Professional Negligence / Medical Malpractice
Ms. Thompson has represented numerous hospitals, individual physicians/dentists and their practices, and other health care providers in medical malpractice cases from suit initiation through resolution at trial and/or mediation and settlement. She works closely with her clients, as well as insurers and risk managers, to ensure the successful defense of medical malpractice cases. In addition, Ms. Thompson is actively involved in the Georgia Society for Healthcare Risk Management (GSHRM), having served as the Resource Collaborative Team Chair for 2003-2004.
 
Governmental Liability
Ms. Thompson defends city and county governments, law enforcement officials and other public entities throughout the State of Georgia in all stages of litigation involving constitutional, employment and civil rights issues.
 
Employment
Ms. Thompson defends city and county governments in all stages of litigation involving claims involving the First Amendment, Title VII and a host of other federal employment laws.
 
Long Term Care
Ms. Thompson routinely represents skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities throughout the State of Georgia in cases involving medical malpractice and wrongful death.
 
Health Care
Ms. Thompson routinely educates and consults with hospital administrators, risk managers and nurses throughout the State of Georgia on a variety of healthcare matters, including medical records documentation, informed consent, EMTALA, risk prevention, peer review, credentialing, and regulatory issues.

Biography
A native of Selma, Alabama, Ms. Thompson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University in 1995. During her senior year at Auburn, she worked for the Alabama State Ethics Commission, and after graduation, she worked as a Claims Examiner for Liberty National Life Insurance Company in Birmingham, Alabama before attending the University of Alabama School of Law. She relocated to Georgia after graduating from law school in 1998.
