Construction
Mr. Meyer von Bremen was raised in a family with a construction background. His late father was a professional designer who served as president of the American Institute of Building Designers. His grandfather was a finish carpenter. His construction practice of over 20 years has included a wide range from handling materialman’s liens through the defense and prosecution of construction defect claims. On the construction defect claims, he has been involved in a wide range from building structure cases to excavation cases to cases involving faulty equipment and the installation thereof.
 
Environmental / Mass Torts
Mr. Meyer von Bremen also serves as a part time legislator where he has gained experience in environmental concerns while serving on the Committee of Natural Resources. He has studied water issues in great detail and serves as the Georgia representative on the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee for the National Council of State Legislators. He stands ready to work with you to negotiate contracts, deal with permitting issues, work in litigation both in the prosecution and defense of claims involving contamination issues and assist in general litigation.
 
General Liability
Mr. Meyer von Bremen has practiced law in Southwest Georgia and Albany for over 20 years. While Albany is a metropolitan statistical area, it is surrounded by several rural communities. It comes with that territory that lawyers often are expected to handle a wide variety of cases. That holds especially true for Michael. It also holds true that he has handled both the defense and plaintiff's end of the general liability type claim as part of that territory. This has given him tremendous insight into both sides of a claim. He has handled a tremendous volume of automobile negligence cases gaining tremendous insight to accident reconstruction issues and the rules of the road. He has handled fire loss claims, claims involving defective products, claims involving construction defects, liability arising out of contractual disputes and premises liability claims. Because of his familiarity he can handle both the defense of a claim and the representation of a plaintiff in their claim.
 
Workers' Compensation
Mr. Meyer von Bremen, through his 20 plus years of practice, has represented mostly claimants and their claims for work related injuries. He has successfully represented his clients at the hearing level, settlement and mediation level and appeals level. He recognizes the complexities that often confront a claimant and works diligently to get them through the problems they confront. At the same time, he has also represented employers through his years and has worked diligently to bring to a close cases involving difficult issues with injured employees.
 
Products Liability
Mr. Meyer von Bremen has experience in defective product cases involving injuries for over 20 years. He has a broad understanding of these issues, especially given the fact that he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in these cases. He has been involved in cases involving pipeline explosions, transformer explosions, regulator explosions, automobile designs and a variety of cases involving design defects with machinery. He recognizes and adopts quickly to the complex issues that can be involved and is especially capable of digging into the detail necessary to successfully handle a products liability claim.

Biography
Mr. Meyer von Bremen is a partner in HBSS' Albany office, and boasts a well-rounded practice with a tremendous amount of experience as a litigator. Mr. Meyer von Bremen has served the 12th state senate district representing a large portion of Southwest Georgia in the Georgia General Assembly since 1999. Presently Mr. Meyer von Bremen serves as Chairman of the Senate Special Judiciary Committee. He has formerly served as the Senate Minority Leader and prior to that as Chairman of the Ethics Committee. He is an arbitrator and mediator with South Georgia ADR Service, LLC.
