Practice Groups: Government Contracting
Overview
The HBSS Government Contracting practice focuses on small and medium sized companies procuring goods and services from the federal government. The United States Congress uses government contracts not only to purchase services and goods, but also to accomplish social, economic, and public policy goals. In all cases, the government seeks the best value for the expenditure of federal funds. Because of the changing political and economic environment, the panoply of congressional enactments and regulatory framework are in a constant state of flux. Winning government contracts and maintaining rewarding relationships require understanding and compliance with the regulatory framework that surrounds the government procurement process. HBSS is particularly suited in working with clients who provide goods and services to the Department of Defense (DOD), and advises clients on DOD acquisition and program initiatives. Planning, programming, budgeting and execution (PPBE) is the funding framework of the DOD and its service components. The national military strategy derived from the national security strategy is the cornerstone that drives the DOD budget. HBSS attorneys bring the capacity and experience with working with classified contracts.
Further, HBSS advises and represents clients on various aspects of government contracts in the following areas:
